Civil Justice Association of California Announces 2025 “Civil Justice Gavel” Recipients
Assemblymembers Blanca Pacheco and Diane Dixon Recognized as Leaders in Legal Reform

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (March 10, 2025) — Today, the Civil Justice Association of California (CJAC) announced that Assemblymember Blanca Pacheco (D-Downey) and Assemblymember Diane Dixon (R-Newport Beach) have been named the recipients of the Civil Justice Gavel.
CJAC awards the Civil Justice Gavel to one Democrat and one Republican legislator each year. Award recipients have displayed exceptional leadership in promoting a fair, balanced civil justice system in California.
“Creating jobs, reducing costs and bringing additional investment into California starts with improving our state’s legal climate,” said Kyla Christoffersen Powell, President and CEO of CJAC. “Assemblymember Pacheco and Assemblymember Dixon have proven to be committed champions for reducing lawsuit abuses and bringing down costs for businesses and consumers alike.”

When considering recipients, CJAC evaluates legislators’ votes on bills that impact California’s legal climate and other efforts to promote a balanced civil justice system in California communities. Assemblymember Pacheco and Assemblymember Dixon have a strong track record in these areas.
